could anyone give me any advice on what's the best place to have your tower, on your desk or on the floor? I'm in two minds to put mine on the floor to give me more desk space but I have a carpet (dust and stuff) so I'm not sure :(.

might as well add that my pc does have dust filters

on top of desk. you can keep your eye on it and better airflow

plus, if it has a window you can admire its innards

Unless you have a CRT monitor, it's very probable that it will look ugly. Lets not forget the space a full tower occupies.

yeah, you really need a big desk for this to work

lel since i go in my room i don't got a desk or monitor
but i should really spend time finding some

I keep my desktop in the desktop spot of my desk. My monitor is on top (Big clunky CRT)
My desktop does not get warm easy during cooler parts of the year.

my case is absolutely massive (Enthoo Pro) so there's no way I could fit it on my tiny desk.

Lay the case on its side and set the monitor ontop.

I have the Corsair 750D on my desk along with 1 23" display & 1 21" display, 2 keyboards, 2 mice, 1 large mousemat and enough space left over to absolutely cover in junk (more of my desk is taken up by the junk I put on it than is by all of the computer related things I mentioned).

My desk is huge, no shelves, no multiple tiers and no wall-mounting. All of this is on one flat desktop :v

I wish i had a much bigger desk so that i could put my 750D on my desktop

Since my CPU was getting hot due to a crappy stock cooler I've been undervolting it all day.
I'm down to 1.07v at 4GHz and it's still stable? that's too good to be true, I must be missing something.

What one is it? I get 4.4GHz per core on my i5-4690k @ 1.3v

I'm rocking a 4690k aswell. I ran a stress test all night last night at 1.1v and it was stable, I've just been going down all day and not a single issue.

My 6350 runs at 4.23 GHz all the time now, and I idle at 11 Celsius and at load 22 Celsius playing gmod, besiege, beamNG, and some even other CPU intensive applications such as Photoshop and Vegas still run at this temp according to Speccy.

Gotta love running that H105 I bought off Bisjac, thanks again Bisjac.

wtf i have the h100i and the 4670k and yet i idle at around 30c and on a stress test i barely hit 50c

To be fair though, 4GHz is only 100MHz more than the base turbo clock. That being said you might have gotten a very good chip, all processors have different capabilities even if they're the same model. 4.4GHZ @ 1.25v is average for the i5-4690k (I'm slightly below average as I need 1.3v to keep it stable at 4.4GHz and I can't go higher). If you manage to get some decent cooling your chip might be capable of running 4.7-4.8GHz @ 1.3v stable.

My overclocked 4690k never went above 65~ degrees during a stress test and all I have is the Hyper 212 EVO :v
