acer is the seal of stuff quality, their hardware is terrible and they're known for being cheap

eOS for speed or Ubuntu
speaking of which, I should make a Linux megathread again.

Hey, can anyone help me find a laptop? Willing to go up to $400, but lower is better. Just gonna use it for the internet/programming and stuff like that. I'm trying to avoid going to brick and mortars, but after going to newegg and amazon and thoroughly looking, nothing piques my interest.

I just want a lightweight, not gross looking laptop. Doesn't even need to be high end, not even close.

i tried out eOS briefly on my laptop and it didnt even let me change screen brightness
I literally tried everything I could find on the internet

Hey guys, i've been modding the stuff out of my skyrim lately and i've been pushing it with the ENBs. I was wondering what optional upgrades i could make to be able to run everything on its highest setting possible. I know very little about this but i'm really wanting to give this game an incredibly good boost. Don't worry about budget as i'll be the one handling that end of the deal anyway.

No but really, the graphics card is the only thing in your computer that might be a problem, everything else is fine.

Oh good. I was worried that something else might have been outdated. The only other thing i've been planning on was an SSD to replace my potato.

i been doing the same all week.
i have 4g vram. and its maxed nearly all times on skyrim after all the mods.
mostly from all the high res textures, and paralax mods.

as for ram itself, the game itself can use a few memory fix and ram hax mods. that alter loading areas to work better with system memory, and even raise the game's ram usage limit a little. you still wont get the game forced to use even 5g of memory, but you can get closer.

i dunno what version of the 760 you have, but if you can get any card at all with 4gb that would be a huge help

there are 960 4g versions. evga has thiers for 250.
2 more models on the way to be released soon here

the 960 and 980 have the real 4. (the 960 also has smaller 2g versions)
for some reason only the 970 has the 3.5 and stuffty slow extra .5

yeah you would only notice it being stuffty on the 970 if you tried doing 4k. or i guess modded skyrim where you actually maxed that 4g XD. because only that last .5g is slow and you wont notice till you reach it.

sign me the forget up, then

its important for people who will only own 1 video card that they dont buy the 970.
because if you had 2 970s it really dosnt matter, dx12 will be combining the vram of cards anyways lol. thats a stuffload of video memory.
