what the forget that component orientation

i think thats mini itx, not normal atx

new technology is scary and not aesthetically pleasing. take me back to the old days of beige plastics.

But they're metal, not plastics and they're full towers which occupy more space than needed. (Not like I'm complaining, mind you. Perfect foot rests!)

i keep my tower on a desk where i can show it off to my cats

Speaking of cases, I have the Enthoo Pro. Massive, awesome case. Love it to death. But it's not very portable.

I have everything I need to make another computer from leftover parts from upgrading mine, except a HDD. The case I do have, however, is bigger than I'd like. Anyone know of any abnormally small m-ATX cases? Only requirements are A) cheap B) m-ATX C) ATX PSU and D) 1 2.5" drive bay.

I can't seem to find anything, they all have too much space in them and are too large.

Ya its mini itx in a bitfenix prodigy

i've got a phantom 630. beautiful, big case with silent fans. i just wish it had more internal lighting (although the rear I/O or w/e lights are a nice touch)

nice

I regret now that I bought a haf 912, but it did the job for the price

My sisters laptop is dying and I convinced her to go a gaming-desktop route. How is this for a cheap rig? http://pcpartpicker.com/p/FRmR8d she doesn't play anything other than low end games that would run on her current laptop. (her current specs include a quad core 2.3ghz intel processor, integrated intel, and a nvidia card that is also built into it)
EDIT: changed rig, realized I had more power supply than needed

Pretty good, but I'd go with a different PSU probably.

my gpu was not plugged correctly
now it works
lol

pros and cons

Nvidia Geforce 8600GT

pros: high average fps

cons: does not take a lot to slow down, only has two dvi ports, can't do stuff with shaders, 4 fps with max shaders lol

Nvidia Geforce 730GT

pros: i don't see any bottleneck with my cpu, 30 fps with max shaders <3, takes A LOT to slow down (better than the 8600gt)

cons: lower average fps (but it does not make any difference)

worth it

Given what kind of games your sister plays, they probably don't use more than 2 threads which means 4 of the AMD's cores would be wasted. I'd personally go either with an i3 or a Pentium G3258 and OC it; by doing the latter you'd have a little more to spend on the graphics card.
Here's a build that should work: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Chipskate/saved/#view=tf3MnQ

I'd rather not mess with any OCing, once this PC is built its out of my hands. I don't want to mess with it too much.

I changed the CPU out so its not overkill: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/ZJJPD3
