tomato with thermal paste

lol reminds me of the time i used vegetable oil as thermal paste (combined with a small amount of existing thermal paste on the chip). it actually worked quite well, the highest temp i got was 65-70 degrees (this was with a stuffty stock cooler too).

and yeah, if you couldn't tell i didn't really care that much for the processors livelihood.

Hey guys, my current laptop is 5 years old and I am looking to get a new one, both for gaming and college. Budget is at max $1,200. Anyone know a really good gaming computer that'll last a while at that price?

Specs needed:
  • Min. 12 GB RAM
  • Min. 500 GB hard drive space
  • Min. Screen resolution of 1400x900
  • Strong CPU
  • Powerful GPU that is not one of those crappy integrated cards

Battery strength doesn't really matter since it'll be plugged in most of the time anyway.

How do you think that one compares to this one I found on NewEgg? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834152689
if youre just gonna be playing games as graphically intensive as battlefield 4, then the one you listed is just fine.

The one Squartle linked is pretty much a direct upgrade from this at the same price if you get the model without the SSD.

Considering price VS probable gaming lifetime usefulness, which do you guys think is the best one for me to get?

as long as youre not trying to purposely kill it, and coming from my experiences with asus, the ROG laptop is your best bet.

the most intensive games I will be playing are StarMade and Garry's Mod, probably.

FYI this was my previous laptop, got it for christmas in 2010. just gave it to my older brother last week. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220696

how much of a difference is there in power between my old laptop and the ASUS laptop you guys linked me to?
