What would you do with a 2TB home server? I've been wanting to build an Unraid home server for usenet stuff and then a kodi HTPC but the price of drives is killing me. I still have about 50% of my 5TB drive left so I'm not worrying about it yet.
The 2 drives are for a raid1
And to store stuff I guess. Or host something
But I mean. Im not buying dat now

O really
But im just going to put a terminal based (or whatever its called) os on it. That doesnt require a gpu, right?
I might also use it as a game server so Iduno.
You still will need a display device of some sort for monitor output, unless you preconfigure your server elsewhere and use SSH.

Oh yeah lol.
Ill just rip my gpu out for the time I guess
But I was planning to control with that ssh thing or whatever its called
But with not getting now i mean not in a couple of years.

Quick PSA: If anyone needs a new power supply, Newegg is currently selling the EVGA Supernova G2 550 for $60 after a $20 mail-in rebate: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817438053&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-PCPartPicker,%20LLC-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=
This is probably the best 550W power supply you can buy, save for the Corsair RMx/RMi, and for that price it's a steal.

Gots parts.

This case is cool lol. And the cpu was a pain in the ass to even find.

Can anyone suggest me a good cooler for an i5 4690k?
My motherboard is the Asrock z97 fatality (i'm not sure if this makes a difference)
I don't intend to overclock, but with my stock cooler my cpu can get up to 86 degrees celsius at the moment and I wanted to really lower that temperature.

Budget is around $60

corsair aio water on pcpartpicker
i think it's h60?

are there any downsides to using water cooling?
none of my current parts use water cooling and i've never used watercooling before

thanks for replying quickly btw

edit: another question, will i need to purchase more thermal paste or will the pre-applied thermal paste on the cooler work just fine?

afaik, not really
maybe the possible chance of leaks but i'm sure those are extremely rare in aio coolers
thanks for replying quickly btw
thanks for the thanks

thermal paste is really cheap and it wouldnt hurt to buy more for a backup incase you screw something up
I dont know much about water/liquid cooling but IIRC its better for overclocking than standard air cooling. Someone correct me if Im wrong
you are not

Leaks are also something to look out for

Watercooling is excellent for noise reduction and overclocking. In general better then coolers with fans on.
Either way can anyone reccomend me a quiet CPU cooler (Because intels coolers sounds like loving airplanes) for >50 euros?
Was thinking og the 212 EVO because its cheap and good apperently.
Or something cheap like COOLER MASTER X Dream i117.
Both are advertised as having a noise of 19dB. I dont plan on overclocking, unless there is a way to overclock a non K CPU.

There is no reason to use a big custom loop over juat an aio, for water cooling anymore. Even video cards can be easily cooled with an aio.
Its now cheaper, safer, and takes less space.
And its arguable that a custom loop cools better, since every user sets it up to share a rad with cpu and gpu, thats a huge disadvantage.

Don't buy the Corsair H60, it's louder than most air coolers and overkill for a CPU running at stock speeds. The Cryorig H7 is $35 on NewEgg, is ultra-quiet and cools better than the 212 EVO.

But I cant get it in a shop nearby :(
And I dont feel like ordering online tho because delivery costs
