Author Topic: Ideas for the next big Blockland update  (Read 6333 times)

Last year we had a huge update right? We called it V21 and such, but what if Blockland gets another huge update this year that we could call it V22? What would you like to have on this update?

I have a few ideas here that me and Pablo came up with on a Steam chat:
-better vehicle physics (no more crazy bumping, getting stuck into another vehicle, getting throwed away out of nowhere, all that annoying stuff)
-new avatar customization options (including beta parts why not)
-Moving clouds support on skyboxes
-More vehicle features (lights, new sounds and stuff)
-New walk(when you press C) and swim animations
-Default Terrain generator with ramps ( not all blocky like in Minecraft that we need to jump everytime and that always blocks the vehicles, and with this we could be able to go skiing again!)
-Default elevator that goes on all the directions
-Baked Shadows (suggestion from Ladios - http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=217670.0 Which is brilliant)
-Fixed the high ammount of brightness on lights with Shaders on, yeah I know there is an add-on for that but it's outdated already
-Gamemode Editor (Something like the Mission editor, where you can choose where the character spawns, the objectives, events happening and stuff like that)
-Transparent plumes that it's able to look through bricks, transparent player parts that goes invisible behind windows and stuff like that should be fixed
-More visible lights (it sucks how everything far away looks all dark, the limit of lights we can see are 7)

NEW
-Brick reflection (you know when Lego bricks reflects stuff a little? Yeah basicly this)
-Water reflection and waves (we all know the water on the environment settings lacks waves)
-A way to prevent emitters/lights/rain/snow from going through bricks (suggested by Dante77)
-Hair customization (suggested by Trogtor)

With help from Pablo!
I agree with everything in the list. v22 should be the next v21!

We already have moving clouds support, don't we?

We already have moving clouds support, don't we?
Not sure, I don't see any skyboxes except from the raining one that have moving clouds, but atleast there should be a support for custom skyboxes to have moving clouds (if that's already possible or not)

Hmm, all of these ideas are good.
I wish i had some more to suggest, but i have none.

These are good, but I think they need to be in order of importance.

1. Better Performance
2. Better Vehicle Physics
3. Baked Shadows

These are, in my opinion, the 3 most important advances for Blockland.

tinted windows emitting colored light.

More optimization would be nice for starters. Shadows and bricks alike.

Multi core support, and vehicle physics are the two main ones.

And some more DETAILED vehicles. Not like the old Duplo style jeep. Maybe more like these. (but with no trademark logos)

That feeling when these are all great ideas, but doesn't seem like badspot will do them or any devs.
I would really like to see the baked shadows, improved vehicle physics, moving cloud support and the default Blockland hosting service.

your so right      :C

Then your asking for Blockland to remove the Blocko style, that will never work out, I mean each game have it's own design, for example, Minecraft and it's pixelated textures, Brotherlands and it's cel-shading graphics, TF2 and it's cartoony looking graphics, and Blockland with it's Blocko style, if you want realistic looking vehicles, go play a racing game or something

Wait, does baked shaders mean less laggy shaders for low-performance graphics card? Then I support this. I don't really have problems with other things.

also preventing emmitters/lights/rain/snow from going through bricks
