Author Topic: [AoB] Architects of Blockland - 2013  (Read 49164 times)

The names listed were obtained from the server log. They were the people online between the shift in brickcount.
Glad it helped

The -RESERVED- space under the OP has just been filled with the profiles of the AoB members who I managed to send a Profile questionnaire to, and who answered. If your name is missing and you wish to have a profile, PM me, and I'll send you the questionnaire.
awesome :o

How is everybody's scheduling for the next few months?

And this goes for everybody; members, aspiring members, ex-members, general non-members and Blocklanders, even blacklisted members seeking to appeal their status.

And further yet; this goes for those who have little time on BL to do much in the way of regular clanship; anybody seeking to show off and/or participate in something big. If you have the time to build once in a while, this goes out to you.

should be getting my laptop so i should be more active

NOTICE

Some time ago, an unknown griefer came to the AoB server and destroyed a part of the AoB Headquarters. A short time ago, the same or another griefer returned to destroy a more substantial part of the Headquarters and part of the Tower. A few days ago, a personal project, the Dragonfly, was loaded onto the server for the benefit of personal contribution by StarHawk, founder and director of the Oceanco clan, and pre-applicant for AoB. The Dragonfly was later discovered to have also been damaged extensively by the griefer. During this latest incident the griefer was caught in the act by StarHawk.

The griefer's name at this time was Guitar God, and his BL_ID is 36116. His name was not present on the RTB chat room while he was on the server. He apparently used regular tools to wreak the damage seen, despite lacking full trust, or even build trust, with the owner(s) of the bricks of the various projects effected. It is not known how this was done. After the damage was done, the griefer left, and returned as Killers knife, also without a corresponding name in the RTB chat room, and whose BL_ID was the same. The griefer, under this new name, claimed that his brother hijacked his computer and performed the griefing.

Below is a series of chatlogs obtained by Starhawk. All logs are entirely accurate. The original picture is available on private request.

  • StarHawk: You were the one who grieffed the HQ weren't you
  • Guitar God: what hq

  • StarHawk: We'll be adding "Changed profile names to avoid punishment" to your list of offenses

Earlier today, a fourth incident was seen, perpetrated either by Lilboarder (3683) or, more likely, by the griefer under the copied name Lilboarder. Corresponding to the nature of the latest damage, the griefer was seen in the records using the Fillcan numerous times, and saying things like "ASDFLAHIWEFKJ" and "HEREHERHER".

Further to these latest incidents, an investigation was conducted. No records of the first incident were found. During the time of the second incident, only Black Ninja, Amadeus, and Tetrahedron were online. The full list of suspect names was compiled, including possible impersonations: Amadeus, Black Ninja, Guitar God, Killers knife, Lilboarder, and Tetrahedron. Not one of these names was found under 36116 under the RTB log. It is possible there are multiple griefers involved, though no leads have been found for such.

During these incidents no permanent damage was done; all projects are saved fully intact, and will be re-loaded shortly. ID 36116 has been Blacklisted from AoB. Anybody who has any light to shed on these griefings are invited and encouraged to come forward. Thank you.

I believe it would be an impersonator of Lilboarder, there's no way he would come griefing. He's been around for a long time, and he's been a good contributor to the community. Correct me if I'm wrong, but regardles...I'm always sad to see this happen. It hits home, being a longtime minecraft server admin.

Trifax, i share your pain, i too was a minecraft admin of Four years (estimate) so seeing this is sad. on a brighter note, glad we sorted this out

Despite my best attempts to add '36116 to the server ban list, my attempts have failed. The console returns no error message, but the banlist remains empty. 36116 returns for a fifth round as of earlier today; this time he has targeted peoples' apps; this time, as Hercules.

Nothing has been destroyed that isn't saved, and efforts will continue to repel this intruder. However, I am declaring a temporary void state; no major projects will be loaded until I can confirm the ban. I am not sure if the regular ban button will work; most of the in-game controls are useless with RTB, and the ban might also not be. If he shows up while someone and/or myself is online, I do not wish to risk corrupting a save file by, for example, saving the site while this guy is applying the fillcan, giving me a completely pink version of one of our projects in place of the real one.

To ensure without a doubt that the ban is secure, I invite one or two members to participate in a ban-testing related series of experiments on-server. As soon as I can confirm that it is being done correctly, the tests will end, the participants will be promoted, and the AoB projects will resume.

Ya got back up saves right? honestly the only way i can see the situation prevented is if the server is passworded. I mean if this guy is able to get through bans and trust files etc, how do you know he is not corrupting any other of your blockland files? I would not feel that my computers privacy is secure with him on the server and if a ban is not working i think a password is the only option unless he can get through that as well. Also sorry for my absence lately im really busy catching up on school before i get dropped

He did not bypass the bannings themselves. I simply was unable to successfully add his ID to the list. If, in the highly unlikely event this does get to the point of the griefer bypassing passwords and bans, we'll have to contact the developers.

Oh ok. And I think that even the fact that he found a way to break other people's bricks without having trust with them is enough to involve the developers. But I agree that preventing him from joining the server again is the priority.

As do I. Badspot may be able to do something about this that you can't.
