How do I know who to promote to admin?

I'm thinking of hosting a racing sever and since I idle a lot I need some admins to watch over.
I don't really know most of the players.
So how do I know who to promote to admin?

Then based off of the maturity and frequency that players join your server, pick someone there.

I also agree, admin apps are a really awful idea in my opinion.
I would say try to select your admins based on the people that you trust the most.

Trust. Just host, and when you get a good population, with selected individuals that stand out and seem capable to administrate, those are the people.

You could start by making outstanding individuals moderators, if you get such a mod. Promote them later as you see fit.

Run applications for the moderator position. Remove right or promote to mature people, who have the ability to be respectful admins.

Drawback: Some 40000 ID can get Mod and just forget with it, kicking everyone.

I have not had a game topic for more than two months, and I decided to stop using the admin apps a long time ago.

I agree about choosing people you trust most. However, concerning admin applications, I believe that if you use applications, administration must be difficult to get.

Applications are not a very bad idea if you don't have that many trustable friends on BL (Like me) yet as I said, you need to choose the applications wisely. Don't accept somebody who just puts "I'll ban noobs" as an admin. Ensure that the player uses quality while applying or this will happen:

So while admin applications are not an entirely bad idea if you lack trustworthy friends and you need administration fast, it should never be a substitute for picking your most trustworthy friends for admin.

Admin applications should be:
1. A last resort
2. Fact checked
3. VERY difficult to be accepted through.

But if you can, do it the old fashioned way and just host by yourself until you trust people.

Don't be such a false dichotomy, maaaan. Just because they're your friends doesn't mean they're good administrators. I'm not suggesting he promote strangers, I'm saying friendship shouldn't be a sole requirement.
