I liked when the face was in the bubblegum goo. Also how the monster looked like jake. Also how there was so much red stuff for Marceline. Man I liked a lot of things about this episode, I wish it was a half hour one though. I feel like they rushed through what could of been a really good story. When it ended I still wanted more, so much more.

Yes, I felt the same way. I find Iceking as one of those characters with an interesting backstory.

Has anyone else felt like the aspect of "Adventure" is being overtaken by "Time" recently?

Let me elaborate, I think all these backstory episodes are great but couldn't they spread it out a bit more than laying it all out right when the Lich King is sealed? I think it would've given more tension building up to that episode, and I've been having less and less interest in the show. Maybe it's simply because all of Ooo has been shown already and there isn't much else to make an adventure around.

Nevertheless Penn still shows his commitment to the show making characters interact with eachother more, especially with the Magic Man episode "All the Little People" with the small figurines, it really tackles how a lot of shows don't have some characters meet with other characters, how the creators interpret a possible bond between different characters is created. I think that was the most enjoyable episode for me in this season. Ice King is to me, certainly the most depressing character in a show intended for children, lol.

it's rare but there are some okay quality episodes on youtube however they're prolly not up to date as in not past season 4

I feel like the story is far more interesting than the whatever adventure they'll go on. At face value the show really doesn't have much going on, it's like any kid shows that appeals to a broader age range.

 I mean you could watch any episode and it would make sense. But each episode gives you a little back story to what is happening and what happened. The whole war turning earth into Ooo is really interesting. The pacing that they reveal what happened is so slow though. Like they always give a new little piece of what happened regardless of the episode, but this one really started telling the story of the Ice King.

Really I find the whole back story to be way more interesting, the several episodes to do with Ice King are probably my favorite. Though I still like when they do some sort of adventure, like when they found the Goblin King. It tells you more about characters and the world, but it's a lot less story. The mix between episodes of just pure story and adventuring is pretty good.

I would still prefer a few specials that are just pure story explaining how Earth became Ooo, maybe even going into more detail about the war. Like how in this one soup was pretty much medicine.
