What
When you're making a point that something is bad, you wouldn't say that it relieves you of something because relieved is understood to have a positive connotation. You know how people say one thing and mean another? You're accidentally saying the tax increase was good via the word relieved.

thanks for derailing the thread maxwell, you're pretty useless

Isn't "relieved" just another word for "released"?  Anyways:

Obama decided it was time for our tax cut given by bush 10 years ago to expire, this increases everyone's taxes.

We need to get some industry going.

wow what an starfish

he should have left them and waited for the debt fairies to come and take away the debt

Yes, but think of when people say "relieved."

"There you are, Johnny! I thought we lost you. I'm so relieved."
"Where's the bathroom, I need to relieve myself."
etc.

The word has a positive connotation, even if it's not directly written in its definition it's understood that when you are relieved of something it is good. I guess it's also used as a euphemism for fired, but that's kind of irrelevant.

Actually, not much of the new tax revenue is really going towards paying off our debt. :x

These things must not be working because I see many homeless people on the streets. Not as bad as what you see in a Hooverville, but still.

Yeah, you don't have to tell me. I'm a libertarian and I think the random stuff this government spends money on is loving ridiculous.

Remember Solyndra? That company Obama shoveled money into, then they decided their research wasn't worth squat and promptly liquidated? Great use of money. Fantastic.
