That's troubling for me.  There will be moments when I want to play offline, so this will probably be a deal breaker for me.

Sports games aren't that hard to make.

are you loving kidding me lol. have you ever even looked at those games? obv they dont have to spend ours making maps or modeling 500 different NPC's and weapon models, but how indepth they are is pretty goddamn amazing.

less work is put into 90% of the FPS and RTS games you see today.

Tbh I might just wait for a sale or something on it, same with Crysis 3.  $60 for one game is just too much now.

why does them trying to buy a company make them bad

I can think of two reasons why this is bad

a. EA pressuring Valve to make games quicker so they can make more money, thus sucking fun, creativity and general fun out of any of their games.

b. EA would probably close Valve down after a while.

EA is stupid with Day 1 dlc, requiring internet for a single player game, different colored explosion endings, troganator(origion), buying titles and producing quanity sequels, backed with waves of stupid console fanboys, over priced dlcs with little content.
