Author Topic: Revive The Brick Name  (Read 1680 times)

we would like to know once and for all what was the function of brickname. and if you planned on not using it again, howcome you havn't taken it off?

I remember Badspot saying somewhere that it was a painful story that he didn't want to tell. Perhaps he'll get rid of it in V9's wrench GUI...

The functions for setting brick names are in Blockland, but they don't save, and adding a space in them changes "Lol Hi" to "_Lol_Hi" etc. Apart from that and a few clientcmd errors (console only, nothing serious) it seems to work perfectly, I can't see any reasons for removing it.

I'm not posting how I unlocked the GUI, though.

o.k., but wat was the function? i know where and how to see it, but y is it blocked and y hasn't badspot taken it off?

I don't know the exact names of the functions or why Badspot didn't remove them but you get clientcmdNTSetName and clientcmdNTRemoveName errors, with one argument as the line you set. (With the spaces as _'s i.e. _Lol_Hi from last post)

Unlocking the GUI is cake, I'm not quite sure of the reasons Space Guy has for not telling though...perhaps they are good.

Anyway, to unlock it, open the wrenchDlg in F10 and delete the only instance of a GuiSwatchControl.  Then, just save it in Add-Ons/Client/GUI_WrenchDlg.cs.  Then you can just toggle whether or not you want to use it through the add-ons menu.

Erm, like that you can't actually type in the text box. You need to up the maxlength of the text box too...

I wasn't saying because Badspot removed it for an unknown reason, and wouldn't want it hacked and released.

And what exactly does it do?

And what exactly does it do?
thats the whole point of this post, not how to get it.....

It does nothing except have the textbox in the Wrench GUI show whatever message you put in to others who wrench it, similar to how items and emitters save when you put them on. It's basically pointless right now until it is modified to a new Brick Messages mod or to have some use.
