Author Topic: Burt's City (New Pictures)  (Read 9966 times)

Here's some progress. It's slow, but I'm actually doing something.  Still trying to figure out how to do a good backdrop building. The B&B and Library interiors were done by super lovey Lordy Lord.

Pre-Release

I might not get back to this project so here's the save of what was done so far. It isn't much, but if you guys would like to see or have it, it's in attachments.

List of important add-ons used are:
Trueno's Color Pack
Wire Fence Bricks
Fence Bricks
Pole Bricks
Wedge Bricks
Window Brick Pack
One Random Brick Pack
Eksi's Lights
And I'm sure that's it..

Thanks for the feedback!

OP:

Hey guys, I'm working on a new city project. It's going to be a large explorable city gamemode with lots of things to do.

No guarantee that it'll be finished, but I'd just like to post my progress  :)

Here's some pics so far:

I plan to have a list of features in the city:
  • Apartment rooms
  • Sports Zones
  • A ridable Subway
  • Social Zones
  • A Concert Stadium
  • Dance Clubs/Bars
  • Arcades
And more..

Any feedback? Cheers  :cookie:

Looks good so far, it has nice feel to it! Exploring things is always fun!

Yep. I'm hoping it could be like a good click adventure without a plot. With room to RP and such. Or, a place to relax and chat (other than building random red bricks and jumping around).

I like your building style using clean wall facades that are more planned out than they look. Makes for a very interesting clean-shaven, alone feeling since there's little clutter.

Would be very interesting if you integrated some sort of dark underground + plot into this city, even without a full-on adventure. Like leaving hidden notes and artifacts that explain why you're there, what happened, etc etc.

Also, the style reminds me quite a lot of what I imagined while reading the SCP-093 testing record accounts. Color accounts describing monitored excursion into the other world accessed using the SCP, specifically the Violet and Yellow tests.

There are also other tests. All make for interesting reading, but save a couple hours for them since they're so long. It would be asking a lot for you to make this fit those stories but if you did it would add a whole new edge to this.

-snip-

Ah yikes. That's a bit dark, lol.

Trying to evoke a feeling of goodness and well being, though your idea is interesting (and someone should do something like that). I'm hoping people will explore it with other people making it not so lonely, heh.

Thanks for the praise, though!

Edit:
Actualy, making something dark for an underground plot would be a good idea. Perhaps not SCP, though. This world I'm recreating already does have somewhat of a plot, I can just include the darker parts of it into this.

add the parkour player-type and a default gun, and you've got the best server ever.

I supose, but making sure areas aren't accessible through parkour adds a bit more difficulty building. I'll think about it though.

And, if you're thinking about rooftops, then that's near undoable. It's a easy doing things from the bottom, but have a view from birds eye requires adding more detail.

Just about finished the yellow building.

awesome. looking forward to any kind of final product :)

as for more positive things if you're not following the SCP thing then there pretty much no reason why you cannot. as a suggestion don't design the map for just one-player exploration; it would be awesome if it supported multiple people.

again, what you're doing is quite enough; whether or not you're going to add the story, i bet someone will add an adventure into it.

You've given me a good idea to build my own military factory ... I was looking for suitable options.

I really like the look of this.

Very nice idea too. Exploration is always fun. Making your builds explorable is a key thing in blockland.

This looks amazing, I think I saw this once at your server a long time ago, it was a TDM.

Reminds me of Gm_Freecity.
