To me the scary part is how easily someone COULD bring an ACTUAL weapon that close to important political figures such as him or that video which the Czech President. I do count him as lucky even if he wasn't in any real danger because if they said assassin had the will to buy a real gun it could be a much different outcome.

he fired the airsoft pistol to make the point that political security needs to be stronger because the pres could've died right there

also the guy that committed that act was dropped of all charges and czech security was strengthened as a result of the event

it definitely appears he wasn't trying to pull what that guy did with the czech president (make a point regarding the lack of security)
he was shooting to kill and probably bought the gun thinking it was the real deal

On January 19, 2013, there was a failed assassination attempt on Dogan at a party congress. An assailant pointed a gas pistol at Dogan, which failed to fire. The assailant was identified as Oktai Enimehmedov, who previously has been arrested for drug possession, robberies and hooliganism.
