What protocol will the downloads use? Or, will they just be hosted on a website?

This is something that has been needed since the beginning, will there be some sort of screening process for the submitted add-ons, and if so what will it be like?  And, what if you downloaded an add-on, and there is an update, would this new download system alert you, and give you the choice to download it; force it down your throat; or tell you nothing?

The online submission system will give you the choice to update an existing mod you have posted and this will notify all users that have downloaded your mod that an update is available and will provide them with a button to add it to their download queue (provided they have "tell me if there are updates" checked in the options)

There is a PHP system to check the file structure of the submission to make sure it wont mess up when its downloaded, and will also ensure that shapeFile = ""; links in the .cs file are pointing to an existing model etc.

Will this prevent overwriting models and textures with shared names?

Also....are those really add-ons or was the pineapple one (for example) just made up for screenshot?

It's nice to finally see some news.  Good stuff.

You'll find out soon enough.  :cookieMonster:

Yeah thats the one, I remembered it from ages ago.

Haha. That reminds me of my brother's "Meals on Wheels" game he developed for his college project.

Let me just make it clear this is just stuff for the FIRST release. We have lots of other new stuff planned for the following versions too.

The main cool thing in the first that nobody's seen before is the downloads system. It's going to work directly with what's going on in the forums version, so you can choose to either browse in-game, or in a browser.

We hope the RSS reader will get a little more use. We'd like to update the website and put more updates on the front page for everyone to read in the RSS reader in-game. I'd also like to get a mod for the forum that makes RSS feeds for each section. That would be nice to have in-game too.

Of course, IRC is going to be extra nice this time. We're following some of the conventions of modern chat software these days like tabbed conversations (global chat AND private messaging will be included).

RTB from 2.0 on is all about community. No content is planned to come with RTB, just a means to make content easier to get and more fun to play. The hope is that with a solid base for getting add-ons then there will be a lot more quality add-ons used by more people.  <:)

Do you think a name change is in order?

I mean...your not really "Returning to blockland". Besides, the RTB forum is full of spam from an unending wave of morons who can't make the destinction between 0002 and the mod.

Just saying that perhaps its time to start fresh. (still keep forums, but change name and link and clear all forums.)

... no new datablocks...?
if so then cool, still I would love to see the /catme command D: ( I would port but model am borked)
Still, RTB might not be accepted as well as before, seeing as your not really adding any erm, how you say, content. If the community sucks, why focus on it?

I love the way the mod system looks. Keep us updated. That "Fruit Pursuit" made me lol, mostly just the name.
