Author Topic: Gaming headset that is also good for music?  (Read 1668 times)

HOW DEEEEE PEOPLE! Currently I use a Sennheiser HD 202, they are AWESOME for music. But I want a good headset for talking on skype and playing games with my friends so that they don't hear me bashing on my keyboard (desktop mic)

I also want them to sound good with music, because I listen to a lot of music.

Do any of you guys know of a good headset that doesn't sound like complete stuff when listening to music?

Also I like over ear, on ears just don't do it for me.

Thanks :D

Just get a directional desktop mic; gaming headsets aren't that great for music.

I know a perfect one!
It's-- Let me go on my computer hold on.

This man speaks the truth. Honestly, most gaming headsets are just overhyped pieces of junk. Sure, it's nice to know where you're enemy is coming from on the battlefield, but you also want something to enjoy a relaxing piece of music on after the battle is over. And what do you think gives the best acoustic experience, 10 crappy speaker units or 2 high quality speaker units? I give you a tip: more is not always better. Also, most sound cards can emulate Dolby / 5.1 Surround sound just fine. I think most modern motherboards with onboard sound will do the job just fine. Of course, in terms of the music quality, you probably want a sound card anyway...

Most high-end HiFi-headphones are probably good for gaming. Just look for something with a wide soundstage. If you want a "gaming" headset, you should probably buy from a respected brand (read: Sennheiser). The P350 is good from what I've read.

And of course there's the question whether you actually really need 5.1 sound. I'd say that you won't be able to recognize a potential lethal enemy (from sound alone) in the heat of a wild battle.

God, they look horrible.
you obviously have never played borderlands before

This.  If you have a separate microphone you never have to worry about that stuff ever.  It's great.  I just have some weird old mic I had lying around and it's been the mic of choice for years now.

Go with sennheiser for your headphones once you have a separate microphone.  I have Sennheiser HD 280s, I don't know if they're made anymore but if you give them power you get such amazing sound like holy stuff it's beautiful.

None.  Get headphones and an external mic.
