Author Topic: steam now has offline messaging  (Read 3483 times)

what if that is actually somebodies login info ;-;

Wow... You could still do that without it... Argh, is that seriously the reason? Might as well make chat like Cartoon Network's site over a decade ago. (Anyone remember that? You had a list of preset statements and you selected from them. It was horrible.)

On the bright side, did anyone else notice Steam doesn't seem to be as much of a resource hog?

No... this can't be... my- my classic Steam message sound... it's- it's gone...

And i can't replace it!!

You can take my /me command, BUT YOU CAN'T... TAKE MY... MESSAGE SOUND!

THIS IS UNACCEPTABAAAAAAAAAAAALE

They removed the sounds?

forget everything.

Turns out when someone outside of the beta tries to send a /me message to you... nothing happens. Doesn't convert it to a normal message or say something was sent. Nothing. That will get old for beta users...

Do NOT get used to offline messaging yet. People outside of the beta won't receive your messages, so relying on that is bad. I wouldn't trust getting used to it since you might accidentally use it on the wrong person without thinking.

Are you seriously comparing the removal of a stuffty roleplay command to an extreme form of censorship?

Oh wait never mind.

Wait, they thought away the PM sounds? Ffffffff-

His point is that if you're in beta and you try sending a friend offline messages, it won't work.  At least this is what I'm interpreting.

Which is kind of right.  It's great but I'd rather wait til its officially released so then EVERYONE has this capability.

Actually, they'll probably just get the horde of messages once they get the beta or they officially release it.
