Author Topic: SpaceEngine - Explore the entire observable universe  (Read 1555 times)

Listen, this stuff is loving AMAZING.

Basically, this is a simulator that allows you to explore the entire observable universe. You can land on ANY planet, find habitable planets, all that.

I'm not good with descriptions honestly so i'll let the website explain:

It's completely free.

wait what

what the forget

oh so the developers just made up fake planets, right?

No the developers have been to every single planet in our universe and mapped each one out.

Planets and stars we do not know about are randomly generated.

wait what

i mean planets that can support life. it tells you if the planet has life or not, although you can't see any life on the ground just yet.

planets that haven't been discovered by astronomers have been procedurally generated. other planets such as gliese 581 c and such still exist, however.

yeah, what i meant to ask was
"is everything here but earth randomly generated, or is everything we know there and the rest randomly generated?"

sounds neat.

I wish my laptop could run this.

To much space usage for my hard drive to handle.

fun fact: the max speed you can go at is roughly 30 trillion trillion kilometers per second

Mmmm...this coffee is good...

Anyway, does this simulator have all the data (details of planets, suns, and moons, etc.) that we have installed in it? I hope you can understand.

I used this engine to find a planet for the Earth x.0 series in Community Projects. Really great program.

haha same here, for Cyrannus.

uh, well it tells you info about a planet or sun when you click on it.

how do you efficiently navigate this
i'm just randomly sweeping around to random places
and how do i select an entity to see information about it and such

click on a star, move towards it, slow down the closer you get.

Or you can press g and it'll autopilot to it.
