Why you all be hating

Every J.J. Abrams film I've seen has been great, especially Super 8

I loved Super 8

because it's all "pow pow pow"
So, because it had more action, and there was a higher budget for it than the original series?
So they could show explosions and things, instead of just sitting in chairs bouncing around with lights flashing?

I thought Abram's Star Trek did the series good justice.

And I agree with Blooker and Sir Blocksalot. Super 8 was fantastic.

star trek is not about action

And although I said I don't really care if they do it bad, since it won't reflect poorly on previous films, I do hope they try to avoid including old characters. Obviously the actors from the Original Trilogy are way too old now. Some you can do, sure, like Chewie, R2-D2 and C-3PO, but I'd hate to see them bring in new actors to try and play old, very familiar, characters, and end up not looking anything like them or acting at all like them.

I'm imagining Maria Bello replacing Rachel Weisz in The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.
Which was a stuff film and crappy sequel to the previous two brilliant films, but she didn't help with her poor acting.
I believe they wil be using some old characters but they will not play a main part.

As a kid I always wondered why they called it Starwars when the battles scenes were short and most of the movies were Luke, Honsolo, Lei, Chewie, C3PO, and R2D2 all run away from Darth Vader for two movies, and then in the last movie you get an actual ground battle where teddy bears rape highly trained storm troopers which seem to be the the most accident prone. Then there was the modern trilogy with the kid pod racing for half the movie and Anakins boring emo scenes and love scenes.
