Author Topic: Cameras and Boat  (Read 4934 times)

Oh, ffs.

You guys BOTH totally missed my post.

Everyone missed your post because its not helpful in any way. Using a wheeled vehicle wouldnt work because they cant propel themselves due to the wheels not touching the ground. Plus, The horse isn't even a vehicle, its a player.

Cameras would fail because it requires huge complicated engine mods which would totally screw up the engine completely, plus it would be unimaginably laggy.

What ever happened to the good old Brick Camera, that was fun.

It was helpful as well

To see what was going on in other places without actually having to go there.
It should be made again.

*COUGH there were wonderful boats in aot COUGH*
1. Change the horse model
2. Change the speed
3. ???
4. Profit
doesnt work, it causes the game to crash, and badspot told us to LOL

Me and like 10 oters tried, it just crashes when you change te model, but if you dont, it floats!

EDIT in water, i think it was kheyre who changed the model and it along with me and it crashed
Umm when did I play with you,

Bump, I want a boat plz. XD noob post!

Why Do You Capitalize The First Letter Of Every Word?

Also, a boat is impossible without changing the engine, or atleast for vanilla anyway...
Lies. Horses can float, just change its model and throw some better speed in there.

Wow bump.

Also, why would the boat being a playertype matter? you can spawn horses, and they are a playertype. Also if I remember correctly you can differentiate from speed in water and speed on ground.

Since it's been bumped, I want a boat!

And I know why the game crashes when you change the model, n00bs shouldn't be tampering with things you du nut knuw.

Lots of laughs towards the above post from Jervan :D

It's because the horse model is actually a Character you can latch on to with it's own animation set, it's not a vehicle per se.

When you simply replace the model, but not the animations, the engine gets confused and crashes.

Basically create a boat model, make and export animations for it along with the model itself, go in the datablock and change the animations to their respective boat animation names. Also to avoid weird Horse physics, diminish Strafing velocity to zero.

When making animations, make simple 2 frame animations, where the boat essentially does not actually change (i.e., nothing changes or moves, the boat stands still). Do this for all the animations and name them properly before exporting.

Then all that's left to do is change the various datablock values relating to density, acceleration, max velocity, steering, etc.

That's how I think it could work.

I didnt like the old camera mod because it messed up my blockland.

Badspot said that a live feed appearing on a brick is completely impossible without engine modification on my camera suggestion thread. And for the boat, I have no idea.
