Well if the clone is a copy of yourself, wouldn't that mean it would think like you would and thus would want to save you.
At least thats what I would think if I were a clone made to save the real me...

Personally, I think the cloning of a human should be better left for the individual to decide. I wouldn't mind having a clone, or two. I'd be able to get a lot of stuff done in a short amount of time! Providing the clone retains my skills and memories
