Author Topic: Sony's PS4 Megathread (02/20/2013)  (Read 19754 times)

There's nothing wrong with a little curiosity.

it will murder felines

So I missed most/all of this. I skimmed over the past pages since the stream, but basically: Did they show the actual console? What are the specs they've revealed so far? It is built to livestream natively? What's so special about some games? Well really, just a summary of everything that's went on, really.

The cloud thing sounds interesting, I don't think Facebook streaming should be a primary advertised feature. I think Sony should start making some more good exclusive games.

I missed the stream, were there any pictures of it?

disappointing, if the new xbox turns out to be like this and the WiiU, Valve is poised to conquer the industry

Ironically they're appealing to the younger generations, so valve is going to be the one losing out.

I don't think nintendo has to compete with microsoft and sony, They have their own huge market on their first party.

I think it's mostly agreed that the wiiu will be a gamecube this time.

So could anyone summarize what we know?

I think of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater

I heard it isn't backward compatible at all, but I assume that it works with PlayStation Network's digital ports?

they're basically going to use their new cloud service to stream them somehow

So you have to rebuy your library, unless it is on PlayStation Network, or either way?

So basically it's a new playstation with much nicer enhanced software features like built in streaming and social media functions (as if anyone even uses those), and then some regular semi-aged CPU/GPU with 8GB of RAM.

The only redeeming factor for the hardware is 8GB of RAM for me, honestly.  I know the hardware will be super optimized for PS4 games but really how long until that boundary is broken considering game engines are already far beyond current-gen hardware.
