Eh whatever
All I know is it's a bad virus with bad coding.

What exactly is a botnet?
basically it is usually a piece of software that makes you do something on a certain date at a certain time. often as Jaxx said for ddosing
in other cases it allows 1 computer to execute a command and have all the other computers follow behind.

it's incomplete, not bad. would you really place the entirety of your code, inactive, where it can be recognized and "vaccinated"? no. you'd do it like you played Pandemic: you'd spread absolutely loving everywhere, including madagascar, then turn hell loose.

So this virus is just some sort of random test/beta thats incomplete of another one similar that will do even worse?

Overall a Test of a virus to see its potential?
But if the code is incomplete, how bad will it be once complete?

what was the last one that was similar? something worm? basically, it could be anything so simple as acting as part of a botnet, as described, to stealing any and all personally and financially important data you have.

By the way, I do indeed think it was VNC. I uninstalled and haven't had this issue again since then.

Interesting.

Well, anything is possible. I installed TightVNC at one point, and I haven't had a single problem.
