Which is why I usually get meat from the local butcher in my town, the farms that raise the animals for them are properly taken care of unlike the battery farms most stores get their meat from.
I wish that those conditions could be feasible for the global demand of meat. Of course, as I say this, I know very well that I'm totally unlikely to eliminate my own demand of it.

It makes meat affordable. If you want the animals to be comfortable then you can kiss $2/lbs hamburger away forever.

No more 12 pack hotdogs for $3.
There's just something about admitting I prefer affordability of meat to the lives of innumerable animals that upsets my super-ego.

That's cool, as long as you do as much as you can I guess
I'm not trying to sound condescending or anything okay
-sorry for first messed up post-

If they weren't made out of food they wouldn't be treated as such. They're as sentient and soulful as vegetables.

Hhhnggggg.
Now I suddenly miss my dog  :panda:

I wish I had a dog for very different reasons

But plants dont have a central nervous system as many animals do, they don't really feel in the same way.

Neither do animals once they're dead. They only have to live once and its only for a few years at most.

Once they're dead they don't feel it anymore, but while theyre living they do. A lot of scientists argue that plants can feel emotions, I don't know if I necessarily agree with them but even if this is true, they don't feel it as much as animals do. They dont have a brain like many animals do, which clearly shows they perceive their surroundings differently. I'm not trying to force my "views" on people, I just don't think it's absolutely correct to say that plants are as sentient and soulful as animals. Haven't you ever seen an animal cower in fear? You bring a cat close to a pool or a bathtub and it freaks out (unless its one of those weird swimmy cats). Plants aren't as intelligent as most animals, and most animals aren't as intelligent as humans. I guess you can interpret this all however you like.

Except we don't eat cats because they are pets. They're bred to be sociable and intelligent.

Cows are bred to be tasty. Chickens are bred to be scrumptious. Pigs are bred to be delectable.

How does not wanting to be eaten make it wrong to eat something?

Anyone who says humans aren't above animals is some kind of handicapped. We're clearly superior to any other animal in the world. This doesn't mean you should abuse them though.
