being bricked psp is suffering

i bricked my psp forever ago after forcing the CPU way too high out of boredom, figuring i'd never need it anyway, but lately i've just had this voice screeching at me in my head

so i've decided the set out on a quest to unbrick it.
i tried out this video skeptically, and indeed, it didn't work. so then i decided that i would have to cave and buy a pandora. specifically this one.
any advice before i make my purchase? it's a 1000 phat, and i don't remember what firmware version.
