Author Topic: Why are Civil war games so widely ignored by game makers?  (Read 2417 times)

because you would have a fire rate of one shot every minute or two
that's just stale and boring

What about an Anglo-Zanzibar war game, you invade, then thirty-eight minutes later peace is called and the game ends.
I want a game set during the great emu war

Far cry 3 was so mediocre it was average. If you're going to do a dinosaur game, build it around the dinosaurs.
I enjoyed it. :(

Call of Jaurez is completely based in the civil war, pretty fun game

Conflicts that need to be explored more in gaming are the Civil War, maybe even the Spanish American war, World War I (especially), and maybe even the Korean War as well and perhaps black operations of the time period between the period after WWII and when the majority of the events of Black Ops takes place, if we're talking about another CoD sequel. (that would be 1968, considering that only like two missions are set in 1963)

Because Treyarch (because Infinity Ward won't stop making Modern Warfare sequels) can easily CODify any of these war settings, it would make Call of Duty possibly worth revisiting for us that have grown to hate the series and actually give something new to the people that still buy it anually, be it a well-known commentator or typical raging squeaker.

Mount & Blade: Napoleonic Wars does manage to do a decent job at it.
But, I do agree that it's not as fast-paced as games with automatic or semi-automatic weapons. But there is also an appeal to that sort of warfare for numerous people. Myself and OP included.
There's a reason that the games you'd want to play are resigned to the budget of hobbyist games like farming simulator or train sims, only like 6 people would buy the game after it gets a 0.5 metascore.

they should make a game after the Syrian Revolution.

Pretty much the same with world war 1 games

Call of Duty: Trenches of World War 1

Sitting in two ditches for hours on end in a constant grindfest of chemically bombing the stuff out of eachother. Everyone dies. Uses a last generation engine.

They will make millions

Why don't we have any Charge of the Light Brigade games?

Why don't we have any Charge of the Light Brigade games?
I would love to be like Eddie holding a British flag and wielding a sabre.

Civil War: Secret Missions was a pretty fun game.

Oh, and American Conquest Divided Nation is a cool looking game for its time.
