Author Topic: Steam locks download speed to about 1.9/2.0MB.  (Read 1163 times)

I have a download speed of 15 or so MB. And steam though locks it down to 2.0MB, how do i force it up to like 10 MB? is it possible?

are you sure speedtest didnt tell you that you have a 15 megaBIT download speed and you mistook it for megabyte? lol

15mbps ~= 2MB/s

you got them confused like Fredulus said.

I know that question is stupid but I don't know the difference.

Megabits is generally used in terms of speed

Megabytes is generally used in terms of storage

A byte is equal to 8 bits.

Your 25 megabits per second download speed is equal to ~3.1 megabytes per second.

Idk if its Megabits or not.

b = bit
B = byte

damn, my internet is through a ethernet and my router is behind my monitor

wat

damn, my internet is through a ethernet and my router is behind my monitor
so wouldn't that be faster?

what in god's name am i reading

try putting your router taped to the side of the case. if you put it inside your computer it will run even faster. if you hook it up to your monitor with a USB port it will make your monitor download things really fast too. this will flush your DNS cats, and prompt your server client to process packets faster. this is why your internet is slow.

Pretty sure is MB.
Besides I have 7mb steam downloading speed soooo yeah.

No, that's 8 megabits. You have 1 megabyte down.

Your speedtest says otherwise.
