I honestly thought to climb into space from the ground in Starbound was amazing until I figured there was absolutely no reliable way of doing this short of energy abuse just to get there, not to speak of getting enough blocks to build from planet to space.
That is one of the few redeemable but otherwise wasted features, IMO.
Ugh, I don't even know why I'm bringing it up because that was one of the first things I discovered in Starbound, the space layer, and I got super excited and then super bummed when there wasn't much else to do.
I've done pretty much everything there is to do (A long time ago) and probably won't pick the game back up until the "release" when it comes out of Steam Early-Access.
In other news, another Early-Access game, The Dead Linger, I bought at least a year ago, is now on (essentially) permanent development hiatus and, while I'd post this anywhere else as it has almost nothing to do with Starbound, it doesn't deserve its own topic. Take my unprofessional expert opinion, don't buy Early-Access unless you fit this criteria:
1) You are impatient.
2) You are irredeemably impatient.
3) You seriously want to fund the game that may or may not live up to your expectations.
4) You don't mind getting burned out of playing the game early.
5) You are seriously, irredeemably, unacceptably, almost recklessly, impatient.
