The only way I could imagine is if you become one of those people who uses a game to represent yourself and then what happened to sonic happens to starbound.
Basically people with names involving sonic characters/using sonic avatars. Then people look at you and think you're involved with Sonic OC stuff. Even then really it shouldn't effect anyone. Every game has bad fan art.

Ironicly, that first one was on the very top of the Steam artwork section for starbound, and the good one was like 3 or 4 pages down.

Looks like the sonic fanbase isn't the only one providing bad fan fiction from now on.

Every game is going to get bad fan art every now and then.
with this game it will just happen more because everyones character will be different from others meaning they will want to draw it/get a drawing of it more.
