How do you know that?
Do you talk to birds when you're alone?
A kid who just graduated from my high school does
he's kinda wierd

I like how Terraria had focused development from 3 people with no significant beta stage whatsoever and Starbound still lacks stuff like quest lines and actual fun

Terraria was developed by Re-Logic, with development starting in January 2011, and is built on the Microsoft XNA framework.
Starbound was formally announced by Tiyuri in February 2012, Starbound is written in C++ and uses a custom game engine.

Even though Terraria was built on a simpler system, a very functional build only took a few months of development with less people

Starbound has had a lot of time and many more invested resources and manpower and still surprisingly lacks certain things like active questing and whatnot. Sure it has better technology and a lot more potential than Terraria, but the rate that potential is being realized is kinda sad imo

All I see in terms of dev talk in the last few months is tweaks and small features in combat, which is alright to an extent. The only major update I was impressed by was the customizing of ships (I haven't actually utilized this, but I remember hearing it being added in an update). I really think there should be more updates if not at least proof of more work on quests and making the worlds feel a little more alive, instead of just adding a bunch of small items and tweaks to other things like combat. Just a small rant by me. I think the team should re-prioritize.

Do you read any of the text or do you just look at  the pictures?

Because they've spoke of quests many times. In fact, quests are tied into upgrading/repairing your ships.

Terraria as far as I know from when I started, and completed everything in 1.2, there are no quests.

These tweaks and small features in combat?
You mean changing how the combat works? Making major engine changes so they can develop things faster for the future?

i don't think they ever promised quests lol

<OmnipotentEntity> well, a quest dialog shouldn't be key dismissable for instance, right?
<kyren_> the only thing I think that even uses key dismissable is like
<OmnipotentEntity> you don't want to accidentally forget yourself out of a quest
<kyren_> right, I suppose so yeah
<kyren_> right
<kyren_> I forgot about quests
<kyren_> okay, well then the modal layer still has policy tied to it
<OmnipotentEntity> right
<kyren_> for modal windows
<OmnipotentEntity> I can't think of modal windows that you shouldn't be able to key dismiss
<kyren_> why don't we make quests modal windows

<kyren_> so I could just encode that into the layer
<kyren_> also
<kyren_> like, the quest dialog
<kyren_> should stay on top haha
<kyren_> so, maybe call it StickyWindows?

One of the things we discussed today was adding an AI “character” in each ship which would act as a new way to receive certain items, upgrade your ship, give you quests and help you out in general.

Here you’ll find all manner of npcs willing to buy your goods, give you quests and rent your properties.

Through a series of quests you’re taught how to farm, find trophies in dungeons and build the beginnings of a settlement. Completing these quests will give you the pixels you need to use your ships 3d printer to produce a new fuel module. Which in turn allows progression to the other planets in your current solar system.

At this stage were introducing a new planet type called an outpost. A small and safe planet populated by members of every race. A safe haven for trade and quest taking. You’ll learn how to generate pixels through selling crops, taking quests, selling trophies found in dungeons and renting out houses in your settlement.

On the other hand, if you prefer to be an adventurer, taking quests and gaining pixels as rewards.

Monsters, quests and events will be strong enough to be challenging even with the best tools in the game.

It would probably be fun if they added a few challenges too

i havent played this in a while, mainly because its not even downloaded on my new computer

should i start over?

and as what?

i am not capable of making decisions on my own

Avian.
im not sure what i expected

but no i think im either gonna be an avian or a glitch, because i like birds and robots.

inb4findsamodthatcombinesavia nsandglitchedtogether

eh I guess I wasn't keeping up as much as I should have

I still would like something actually added in terms of quests though

Also the thing about Terraria is that there was never really a promise of quests, as mentioned before, but there was the untold goal of progressing in weapon/armor tiers and getting to hardmode. Sure I guess Starbound does have this to a pretty good extent, but it feels more empty compared to Terraria since Terraria was more of a condensed game, and Starbound promises to be a game of universal exploration

Basically I'm getting impatient at this point. Maybe I could opt in on those nightly builds

tfw you forgot you actually did have starbound downloaded and had a character
