Well, a majority of the games are FPS
Well that's because that's what the people are buying. CoD is one of the largest franchises right now, and people continue to buy the games, and therefore the games are made over and over again. It's simply how the games industry works.
in my opinion, people are just simulating combat
If we're talking about FPS games then it's a fact. And to be fair, you can't run around gunning people down in real life, at least not without consequences. And if you're slamming on games that simulate combat in general, then I will have to raise a point that most people find it fun to run up to a guy and blow his legs off with a shotgun. Or to run about slaying demons. Or to lead an army into victory.
I miss games with more originality.
Might wanna look at indie games, there are some neat games that don't involve shooting people in the face.
Okay, maybe you're right, Call of Duty isn't the only one, more of the point I want to make is the point of the game, you basically run around and shoot things, name a game that's globally liked that doesn't involve combat.
To be fair, a game being "globally liked" implies that everybody who's old enough to form an opinion enjoys the game which is impossible because at least one person will disagree.
