Author Topic: Copyright Alert System - is this a loving joke?  (Read 3902 times)

Only your own faults for pirating things.

Except for certain times when it's not your fault because you are unaware you're uploading/downloading files due to some kind of backdoor or other ways.

yea i heard about this when it was agreed upon by isps 6 months ago and officially took effect like 4 months ago.

i dont see why people are so angry about it. this is a good thing. ISPs arnt in charge of overlooking files and sites.
they need a complaint from publishers first, then all the isp can do is send you an angry letter 6 times. 6 strikes. then they just end your internet service.

as apposed to the old system of the publishers getting your info by warrent then sueing you for 100k for downloading 1 song or game.

yeah... lets all just be mad about this.

stupids

the likeliness of even being caught 6 times is not happening unless you seed 500 torrents full time. like you are the main host of files.

ive only heard of people getting 1 letter. and thats after they pirate thousands of things a year.

i dont think this is a big deal...

I guess its time to get a VPN service

end your internet service.

None of the ISPs will permanently disconnect repeat infringers as part of the plan.
Its illegal for us to DDOS other people but for some reason our internet providers can do it to us.
Government logic

then they just end your internet service.

This is why this new 'law' will die out soon, because ISP's will lose customers and it will anger tons of people.

Except for certain times when it's not your fault because you are unaware you're uploading/downloading files due to some kind of backdoor or other ways.
then that's your own fault for being stupid and having backdoor exploits on your network lol

Is there anything that we can actually do about this? The government won't help because the corporations own the government.
Use a VPN

I guess its time to get a VPN service

then i guess its even better news.

are you guys all dumb or just cant read? this is way WAY better then the system was, where publishers could go lawsuit happy on anyone they pleased over a single stupid mp3.

these new laws protect us... this is all about the isp's realizing that piracy isnt as big a deal as people make it sound, and protecting you from extreme punishment.

My god, I just realized this.

the old system, isps just gave away your personal info to whoever came at them with warrants.
now they cant do that...

Actually with a court order they are still able to get your information. They can't just deny a court order.

they cant get a court order. because the laws on how to prosecute piracy changed.

you cant just get a court order because you ask for one. its still gotta be within other's rights.

Also if the ISP decides to terminate your internet for whatever reason and you are still on the plan, you're able to sue them right?

You agreed to their terms and conditions, no?
