I'm wondering how we could bulk him up considering so much cat food, and pet food in general, is geared toward a healthy weight. AKA it can't build fat very quickly.

Maybe change the Cat Food? Or maybe your cat is depressed.

If cats are like dogs then changing the food quickly can be bad.

I'm no doctor, but based on the symptoms it sounds like your cat has spine cancer.

I would say your goodbyes and euthanize him

How would you be able to tell? Because we took him to the vet, so if it is something that can be felt by the time it causes symptoms, it isn't that.

Maybe you have crappy cat food. Try to feed him some yogurt. Cats love yogurt.

why would he put a sick cat down. unless it has cancer or has 2 days two live then put it down.
my cat was "sick" (throwing up a lot, peeing/stuffting not in litter box)
and we put him down.

I hate cats, dogs are so much better, can you buy a doge?

My cat has always had this cough and throws up when he eats too fast. He was always a fat lard, so him refusing to eat was clearly a bad sign. Apparently Pedialyte is safe for cats, and they've been trying to give him some to help get his energy up. As for dogs, we can't really accommodate one.

I don't know if anyone said this yet but try buying cat treats/wet food and put it near his/on his normal food.

He has been coughing more and more, for longer times. I don't think he's going to make it. My family refuses to bring him back, and if this progresses, he won't make it more than a few days. He sounds so uncomfortable breathing.

You should of put your cat down earlier. I know it sucks to do but watching them suffer for days is even worse.
