Author Topic: Why is my WiFi signal so bad in my house?  (Read 1115 times)

I have this problem with my WiFi where I get a horrible signal even when i'm pretty close to it. When i'm in my room which is 15 ft from the router, it can barely connect. I have AT&T, could someone help me with this?

where do you live

how old is your land line

How old is your router?

And do you have anything close to the router that could be interfering with the signal? (cordless phones, microwaves, bluetooth devices)

Pretty new, probably 4 months. And there's a cordless phone base next to it.

Not sure, it's Uverse though.

ATnT if its a Uverse I'm pretty sure. And those aren't any good I'm pretty sure.

Is your modem also functioning as a wireless router? Sometimes these telephone companies give you that stuff. I don't appreciate when they do. Having a modem separate from your router works better usually.

my house is over 100 years old and the line is very old as well. the highest speeds ive ever gotten around here are 3MB/s. you cant dso much about it

The highest speed that you can get out here is 1.5mb/s. They can't run any line stronger out here. Or whatever their reason is.

are there other networks around you on the same channel? you could be receiving interference from those

Might be, there's also a wireless access point which doesn't seem to do anything.

yeah, mines a 2wire and theres another 2wire in range

I get bad connection and there isn't anything interfering with me so I doubt its that that is causing it.
