Author Topic: Why do I have to be on the internet to be on Steam's offline mode?  (Read 1493 times)

Why is this, can anybody explain why I need an internet connection to play in offline mode on steam? This seems incredibly redundant.

You dont you need the computer to remember your details and wait for steam to realise it can't connect to the internet and hit the (Run Steam in Offline Mode).

Offline mode used to work offline. No idea what happened in the past year.

because steam has DRM
it needs to know you actually own the games, and didn't just get a friend to login to his account and DL them for you, then go into offline mode

It always works for me, I just open steam without a connection, click play and boom offline games.

and steam is DRM lol

You don't.
You need to be online once, then you don't have to STAY online afterward lol

This.

For me I've only needed offline mode when I'm actually away from a good internet connection (i.e. school, cafe, etc.).  Just disable your internet when launching Steam, assuming your games are up-to-date/downloaded 100% and you have your account credentials saved.  Bam, offline mode.  That's how I do it.

For me, I always have to open Steam when I have internet connection, then let the computer go into hibernation, then resume it later when I need it and have no internet connection.
