Naturally the screenshot gallery would be dead when I wanted to make a thread. Hopefully a few of my own shots and this (somewhat childish) trailer will suffice for now...I swear it's not as weaboo-y as it looks. This is, of course, assuming this thread doesn't die in a week like the last one, although I wouldn't be surprised. I'm not even sure how long I'll keep playing, but I got bored and like making huge threads.








Curvy, scantily-clad foreign girls! Got your attention? If so, you'll be happy to know that's something you'll find in this game. Well...maybe not the foreign part if you play on a server that speaks your native language, but you can pretend the dialog is in a nice French accent if you want to. I mean, you know, that's where this game is from anyway.

Yes, the game is actually out after years of development! Wakfu is an isometric turn-based tactical MMORPG under development by Ankama Studio, published in North America by Square Enix. The game has a paid subscription system, and while it can be played for free, there are limitations. It takes place in the same fantasy world as Dofus, 1000 years later.

In the time of Dofus, an ogre named Ogrest managed to get all six Dofus -- legendary dragon eggs brimming with power -- to attempt to seduce a girl he loved. However, she was interested only in the eggs, and Ogrest killed her in a fit of rage. Later realizing what he'd done, he climbed atop Mount Zinit and cried. His tears fell upon the World, flooding it and leaving it in ruins. This chaos continued for 1,000 years before the gods of this realm, known as The Twelve, used their power to breathe life back into it. This is where your story begins...

Wakfu is unique in that it has a dynamic ecosystem. The players affect the flora and fauna, meaning that your actions can cause an area to flourish...or fall into ruin. For example: A friend of mine claims to have destroyed an entire source of a crop in one of the cities, so no one could get it for weeks. "I was god", he said.

The system is somewhat complex, and is much better explained by the creators themselves, or by simply playing the game.




Classes
(I haven't played all of these so correct me if I'm wrong)

Each class has three sets of element-based spells that level up as they're used, as well as a a set of passive abilities and a set of class-oriented spells that must be advanced with spell points from gaining levels yourself. Like most RPGs, classes specialize in certain forms of combat, so you might find one class to be more favorable for your playstyle than another. Pick the one that sounds the most entertaining, or try them all!


CRA
The archers.
They specialize in fortifying their range and movement while hindering that of their enemies. They can also summon bomb-like beacons that are detonated by arrows.

ECAFLIP
The gamblers.
Their attacks are all based on luck: Spells that either heal or hurt, cause critical hits or critical failures, and give random bonuses or penalties. Are you feeling lucky?

ENIRPSA
The clerics.
Their primary goal is to keep their allies (and themselves) alive as well as provide plenty of buffs. They also have an arsenal of sapping spells, allowing them to steal health, movement points, and more from victims.

ENUTROF
The treasure hunters.
They specialize in getting items from enemies, whether that be through crafty spellwork or increased luck.

FECA
The protectors.
They have two major abilities: Shields and glyphs. Glyphs are magical areas that are placed on the ground that have various effects, primarily used to damage foes, and shields give them resistance to incoming damage of various types.

FOGGERNAUT
The saboteurs.
Foggernauts not only possess a damage type that is used only by them, but it has "no natural resistance" and targets affected by it take even more damage from consecutive hits. Their other attacks not only inflict damage on enemies but can be used on empty spaces to create rocks or flames to hinder them.

IOP
The close-combat warriors.
The kings and queens of up-close-and-personal, their spells can buff them up to make them incredibly strong and daze their foes to quickly close in on them. Their air-based spells allow them to do a long combo of attacks in one turn.

MASQUERAIDER
The acrobats.
More commonly referred to as "Masqs", spells from these characters often deal damage while pushing themselves or their enemies away, making them a sort of hit-and-run class. They can be very hard to hit.

OSAMODAS
The animal summoners.
They trap the souls of their victims in their pet Gobgob to be used as minions. While their arsenal contains plenty of damaging spells, their main form of attack is taking care of their summons while giving them buffs. An Osamodas can also fuse with their Gobgob to become a powerful dragon with extra spell effects.

PANDAWA
The drunken warriors.
Pandawas are a strange class, utilizing the effects of their special brews for damage and stat changes.

ROGUE
The demolitionists.
They specialize in firearms - which carry an array of special bullets - and bombs - which can be detonated normally for standard explosions or from afar for extra effects.

SACRIER
The berserkers.
The more they bleed, the stronger they get. Their naturally high health allows them to hurt themselves and take punishment from enemies to give them incredible buffs.

SADIDA
The voodoo summoners.
They summon dolls to do their bidding, giving them special abilities and buffs (and sometimes stealing their health). Sadidas can also control nature to help them.

SRAM
The assassins.
Srams can lay traps to lure their enemies into, or become invisible and sneak behind them for an increased-damage backstab. They are kings and queens of confusion.

XELOR
The time-manipulators.
Spells from these characters use time to their advantage. They can slow enemies down or move so quickly they appear to be teleporting. And even when their opponents are finally given the opportunity to attack, they might find themselves with no Action Points to do so!

Not sure what else should go in here, like I said the image gallery is broken on the website and all the other images from everywhere else are a bunch of early development screenshots and that wouldn't do it justice, so I'll just hold off on that for now

Hopefully some people are interested in it this time around, try it out for a little while and see what you think

it was a game long before it was a show, though it wasn't playable by the general public until almost exactly a year ago (speaking of which, to celebrate they're having a "free weekend" this weekend where everyone gets subscriber access)

Dofus has been around even longer

also there is a cartoon and there is loads of research of this game
incidentally, that's literally all i knew about it prior to reading this thread, so thanks for the info

Downloading now, love the artstyle, hopefully the fighting is fun.

Classes/Races are same as DOFUS. Definitely getting it and playing Osa.

the core concepts of each class are similar but a lot has changed

Osa has to capture enemies to use as summons now, for instance (plus the whole "can become a dragon" thing)

I never really got around getting off the island in Dofus. I mean, there was so little to do on mainland, and just showing off your OP Xelor around to people was good enough for me.

I only have fun as the Sram or Xelor, I feel like I don't know how to play. :c
