Author Topic: My grandma's PC is ridiculously slow.  (Read 1626 times)

When I try to play games on my grandma's PC, certain games always run really slow. Ace of spades and BL work fine, but I'm more concerned about FPSes like battlefield and star wars battlefront. When I play BFBC2 in single player, it lags so much, even on low settings,  that I can hardly aim at an enemy, and it only stops lagging if I look up at the sky. This is in single player, remember.

The strange thing is, I think it has to do with the monitor, and not the computer. The computer is just a year or two old, but the monitor is a crappy, clunky old Dell that predates 2004. The computer is also a gateway with an Intel i5 chip. I don't know about the RAM, but it's either 1 gig or 4 gigs.

Tl;dr, my grandma has a decent computer and a stuff monitor, FPSes lag, and I'm pretty sure it's the monitor.

Any explanations or suggestions for new monitors?

The monitor has nothing to do with performance. You haven't yet mentioned your graphics card on which games' performance depends on most.

Can't give you full specs, grandparents are away in Florida for a while. All I can say is she has a decent computer and a wicked old monitor.

1GB of RAM isn't good, and her GPU is probably stuff

Most likely integrated

that has nothing to do with anything. get out
No, if you saw what had NalNalas had posted, "Fullspecs", you'll get it why his avatar is panicking

You know your joke's failed when you explain it and we still have no loving clue what it means

Most likely integrated

are you expecting to run BFBC2 on an integrated

Not sure what integrated means.

Also, this is her computer:

Has a 4 core processor. Is that good?

Considering the amount of models we don't know which one it is. They're all different

"...quicker processing and cooler operations, choose between Intel® and AMD graphics..."

I have a sinking feeling we're talking integrated
