Author Topic: Shader Requirements for servers running stealth minigames  (Read 707 times)

Basically.
Players who attempt to join your server who do not currently have their shader level set to low or medium will not be able to enter the server, similar to the whitelist mod. This would only work in minigames, and is for stealth gamemodes where hiding in shadows is really really important.

This would also mean that players who change their shader level to low or off to easily detect people in said shadows would be kicked, and unable to reenter less they change their shader level back to how it was.

Along with that, this would only effect minigames as stated before, which means that it would not be able to be abused for server elitism.

Someone please make this. it's the only thing stopping stealth servers.

How is it possible to hide in a shadow, anyway? People still look clear as day.

yes
allow people without the power to run shadows to not join the server
discriminate those without the power
just like the standard "if you don't like the servers today host one yourself"

:/

or that "you gotta register to play" thing in BBB which i hate

This would mean I could never join those servers :/

turn the shadow color to all be 0s in the enviroment options for ultra dark shadows.

What? So if I don't have shaders, I won't be able to join a server? That would suck terribly.

sure but

i literally had a computer that wouldn't run minimum
so you're saying i could never join a server with that add-on becuase that computer couldn't run shadows and shaders
that's real nice

sorry for being overly jerkish

if it's a gameplay element, I don't think there would be a problem. If you couldn't run shaders, you wouldn't really get the gameplay, which is basically the same thing as not joining.

that is what i am talking about!! this man gets it. It's not about eletism or restricting those who can't run them, it's just about a small gameplay element in maybe one or two servers.
