Author Topic: Possible Building Improvements  (Read 678 times)

Ideas that I believe are worth investigating into if possible!
  • Rotate bricks 45˚ and more!
  • Split verticle bricks into 2 or 3 plates like horizontal bricks are.
  • Maybe even rotate and place a brick any angle in between 360˚ and 1˚, that would be cool!
  • Make your own bricks in-game e.g. need a plate that is x7 long but don't want to download a new brick pack? Well you could just type it in a little GUI where you select what type of brick and what dimensions and it creates it for you!

Pretty sure Blockland revolves around the premises that there is a sort of grid that bricks and objects are aligned to, you wouldn't be able to place a brick at any other degree than 90, without its collision being weird.

We already have a semi-useless but still cool brick generator.  The guy put a lot of work into it and it barely makes basic plates and bricks.

As for the other ideas, the engine isn't equipped to handle those functions.

inb4"getanewengine!"

but yeah use that

It would be neat if the brick generator could be used in the game and bricks created during a game. Maybe even replacing the plates and bricks tab with just this one tab that can create any cuboid brick. Maybe it could also create ramps where you could enter the degree you wanted, if it was a corner or inverted and so on. Also DESTROY THE GRID!

From what I understand, part of why Blockland runs as smoothly as it does is because everything is forced to align to a grid.  If we did away with grid alignment, well, imagine if instead of building things out of bricks you built things out of bots, and imagine how slow that would run.  Yeah.
