Author Topic: Computer problems.  (Read 1475 times)

A while back, I was having some computer trouble.

Every so often, I would receive a blue screen.

Apparently, this had to do with Vista (inb4 theresyourproblem) having trouble comprehending a computer with more than two/four gigabytes of RAM.

Initially, the computer had 8GB RAM (blah blah blah it's low I know) and wasn't giving me any trouble before.

But from what it seemed, something new I had downloaded or installed forgeted things up.

So after backing things up, I wiped the original hard drive and re-installed my OS.

I tried booting up with only 2GB RAM and it lasted indefinitely without failing or giving me a blue screen.

I slowly integrated the next RAM card and bumped things up to 4GB. I've been living with this ever since then.

Now I've been thinking about putting in the next two RAM cards so I can be back at my initial RAM potential.

Should I do it? Or should I sit on my biscuit not having to risk it?

I thought you were gonna do something loveual.

vista sholdnt have had anything to do with it.
and if you have 12 gigs of memory on a 32bit(or x84) OS, it just downscales and uses the 3.4g no problem.

Whoa. I'm not that stupid.

vista sholdnt have had anything to do with it.
and if you have 12 gigs of memory on a 32bit(or x84) OS, it just downscales and uses the 3.4 no problem.

According to the original owner of the computer, he stated that it specifically WAS the way Vista reacts to large amounts of memory.

And he's supposed to be the super-techy guy.

And I don't have twelve gigs of memory either. Nor is my OS a 32/84 bit system. It's a 64-bit.
