Author Topic: Can your eyes see more than 20-30 FPS?  (Read 1240 times)

Is it true what people say? 20 FPS or 30 FPS is the limit? I don't think it is, the brain can process information at an extreme speed.
I mean you can see the difference between 30 FPS, 60 FPS and 120 FPS in terms of smoothness. Sure there is a limit, but I doubt it's something as low as 30 FPS or even 20 FPS. Can anyone share what they think with reasons behind it?

Interesting links(Please don't say it's not a real source or whatever, they seem reasonable enough.):

it can see well beyond 200 fps except you can't perceive it

I can see beyond 60 easily.

What resolution does the human eye have at 20x20 vision

I can too but my loving new screen tares.

The eye doesn't see in pixels

So that is not determinable

The human eye doesn't have a fixed resolution.

Here's a neat pic of found.

I can easily tell the difference between 30fps and 60fps. I can't see a difference past 120, though.

Have you tested on a screen that can support up to 120Hz?

60fps and 75fps is fairly visible. 75fps and 120fps is very visible. I haven't tested on any TVs higher than 120hz though.

Yup.

I'd say unless you're hyped up on caffeine, you don't notice over 60.

If this were true 3D technology simply would not work. At minimum it requires 120Hz.

pretty sure 3d monitors need 120 fps to show 60 to each eye
