Author Topic: Accepting Simple Requests  (Read 1198 times)

I recently figured out the add on making basics for modeling, im ok at scripting, but I definetly have lots of room to improve....

I can accept blocky models, they will not be done quick, but sure, I can attempt them...

Things I Am Capable Of

Weapons

Sounds

Music
Not Vehicles, yet... If someone would be kind enough to give me a mini tutorial on how to joint a vehicle for tires and seats, I would be more than happy to experiment...

Not EVERY request will be made...

I am currently swarmed with a English report for school, so I won't be available at all times for a while. I'm going to TRY to make the plasma cutter requested by Mounds Bar

It's nice to see you helping the community directly.  That's always a great way to become known and liked.

You don't have to, but how about a minimap add-on?  It could detect where you are, and place you center, then it would place all nearby players relative-distance away as red or blue dots.

I thought someone made a server, client, and events for this already?

BTW, I love your models, I downloaded a couple from Marble Man's topic...

ALSO, Im not that advanced in scripts, the way im learning script is by teaching myself from reading it, doesnt work exactly that fast... I wish it were faster, but, I hope to become a scripting legend one day!!!

If they did, it isn't a public mod.  I hate it when people keep the cool things to themselves.  I've released everything I've made publicly, even if it only pertains to myself.  Same goes for the people I work with, whether it's an add-on or a build.

It's quite alright if you can't write script fast, and it's definitely not a problem if the add-on doesn't work the first time around.  Just take the requests that you can visualize the solution to, and for the rest, don't accept them until you can think of a way to get them to work.

I don't have the time to sit down and stare at a scripting language and decipher it all.  I've just barely gotten accustomed to reading Torque script, but even that doesn't help me write any of it coherently.

Also, thanks for the compliment.

Your welcome!!!

Also, how did you learn to script?

I never learned to script, lol.  I was trying to explain how I can only model.  I know what I know by reading the scripts written by other users here, studying the add-ons I've downloaded, and perhaps an online tutorial or two.

Try this:  garagegames torque tutorial

It seems like it'll help.  I've read through it, and it's given me a great deal more basic knowledge than I've had before.  It explains functional scripting pretty good as well.

Also, while you type out your script, keep it organized.  Nothing worse than losing your pace due to messy code.

Thanks! One more question, lol this is the last one, I promise.

For example, on your pepper spray can,how did you make the label for it, and how did you attach it so well?

If you download the pack, you'll see that the label has a custom texture I made in an art program.  The label is actually a textured box hiding within the body of the cylinder.

Modeling is artsy, creative, and tricky.  You have to pull some funky stunts when modeling.  Just have fun with whatever you model and you'll make some neat things.

Make a silenced scoped automatic grenade launching sniper shotgun, please.

I don't expect you to put insane detailing into it.
