we pronounce anime 'an-im-eyy' in english because of our phonetic convention- to pronounce it true to the japanese pronunciation is, while technically more correct, also stupidly strange to say out loud because it doesn't mesh with the rest of the rest of the things you're saying

it's like pronouncing something like 'kono kaatoonu wa omoshiroi, ne?' as 'kono cartoon wa omoshiroi, ne?'

... point is, ya don't gotta be so brown town about that kind of thing. we get what you're trying to say, no need to make yourself look like a weeaboo by going out of your way to say it 'right'
