Author Topic: Black Mesa VS Aperture Science  (Read 4468 times)

Black Mesa gave everybody a free sample of aliens.
I'm not sure which is worse, damning the planet with aliens, or an AI killing a facility of people...

I love how we're starting an argument over two virtual corporations in two games made by the same company
also I wonder
if black mesa and aperture are in the same universe
how does chell fare with running through a flower field while citadel 17 is collapsing

also I agree with hellhound, a rogue AI which kills everyone in the base is still not as bad as a failed interdimensional portal experiment that sprinkled evil aliens all over the loving planet

they do take place in the same universe because the borealis was found with its own map in hl2's files
plus there's a projector in portal 1 that shows black mesa

also doesn't portal 2 take place far far into the future? and isn't city 17 located in europe? the mineshaft in ep2 contains cryllic characters, so it has to be

alright
I'll will give you that
if it weren't for the resonance cascade, the world would not have been consumed by war

well true, portal 2 does take place 'nine- n--nine nine nine nine nine nine n---' days into the future
does that mean by the time chell steps into that flower field, the whole combine war and every war that followed is probably over?
god forget the timeline is so confusing, we should compile an official chart to organize this stuff

maybe after everything dies it regrows like nature is supposed to?
that or whereever chell ends up was unaffected and hidden
or, you know
the common theory that she died in portal 1 and portal 2 is just purgatory

the common theory that sits right next to Edd, Ed n Eddy also being purgatory, bikini bottom being bikini attol where nukes were dropped, and other crazy stuff people have tried to make up

they aren't called theories for nothing

-this was bad so forget it-

that is so terribly put together

Black Mesa owns the hell out of Aperature. At least Black Mesa scientists could make a functioning AI (Dog). Also, Black Mesa is better at selecting employees (Gordon, Barney, Eli, etc.).

Also, the Resonance Cascade was G-Man's fault, not Black Mesa's

well, if you bring in DOG, there'd also atlas and p-body

great work including stuff that aperture invented decepticon

also I think aperture's a bit more dedicated. black mesa had a huge budget and barely managed to invent anything before it started a world war, while aperture science, with a smaller budget, continued to test and invent in their awesome underground base

science isn't about why, it's about bumping the thread

I wonder if any of the Aperture workers ever took a sample of those repulsion and other gels with them and tried to use them on their richards for extra fun procrastination/love sessions.

Just because you dont see all of BM's stuff in the games doesn't mean they didn't do as much. Black Mesa was a government-funded research juggernaut, Aperture was a private corporation led by a bloody lunatic. Aperture tech may have been more sophisticated, but Black Mesa's research was applicable to things outside of puzzle games.
