if you don't use youtube for anything other than browsing and watching videos, this shouldn't even matter to you. they're not forcing you to use the social media functions, so just don't use them.

Now, channels will have almost 0 customization options

they have extremely much customization now
you can customize all the sections and content in the channel

Same thing happened with me, but I think the problem is that the file size is too large. I'd recommend:

• If you're using a PNG and Paint.NET, try using the OptiPNG plugin to reduce the file size of the image. (Or if you use another program, but it supports plugins and/or has a way to optimize the image, use that)
• Convert the image to a filetype that has a lower file size, such as a .jpg file.
• Resize the image using an external program.

It looks like it just converts to jpeg quality (and small image size), so it doesn't really matter which choice you use.

also I manually switched to the new layout, but in my opinion, it looks better than the old layout.
