yah ok shell

i remember learning about roman numerals in first grade lol

do you really need help with this or are you just upset about it because it's just a thing you don't like

Roman numerals failed because you can't easily do math with them. They're useless unless you're numbering something but even then it's a hassle

both

learn them how i learned them

I = 1

V = 5

X = 10 (pretty sure)

L = 100?

Let's say you wanted to state Louis the 14th, you would say XIV

I have the basic idea down but no one's ever taught me.

Let's say you wanted to state Louis the 14th, you would say XIV
C = 100.

Let's say you wanted to state Louis the 14th, you would say XIV
and so you can identify XIV as 14
4 is 1 before 5
I (1) is before V (5)
1 before 5 is 4
IV
X is ten
4 after ten is 14
XIV

why does this exist
why couldn't they just use numbers, it's so much easier
whaa

Because they were used before Arabic Numerals were introduced to Europe.

and so you can identify XIV as 14

I (1) is before V (5)
1 before 5 is 4
IV
X is ten
4 after ten is 14
XIV
yeah i understand that but why cant i write IL? or XXXXVI?

wouldnt IL be so much easier to write than XLIX?
