Author Topic: "who are you???"  (Read 5136 times)

Fair point, I should have directed that at Wynd, however, heed went with it.
If you have a more common way to say it, I'd love to hear how. "Ad hominem" makes me sound pretentious, but "to the speaker" is just confusing.

It's a bit sudden when a new forum member says something to you that's not pleasant.
being new also has no effect on whether you think someone is dumb or not
if I see you acting like an idiot, even if I just joined, I will still think that you are an idiot

guys let's just use simple phrases and stop using fancy words like tezuni thinks we should.

who are you???

using english to the full extent doesn't make you an elitist kiddie

it makes you an english major

No I mean, who actually uses ad hominem if they aren't trying to act intelligent?
people who actually are intelligent.

oh forget.

This, and another phrase that makes someone seem like a complete douche, is "No"
If you disagree don't post.

I expected it to land on the frog. But got a hateful message instead.

SUU-PPORT

This has bothered me for so long. That and randomly asking "How old are you?" Or calling them 11 year olds, 9 year olds, 12 year olds, etc. TBH I've met 11 year olds more mature than some people on these forums, that argument doesn't work well. And even worse is that some of the people on these forums are 11 years old.

And hey, what if you say something like that, and you're opponent turns out to be 11? Yeah maybe you have proven that you're probably the smarter person in the argument, but now you're being a jerk to some little kid.

I can't stand it when I try to make a point and people turn around, completely ignoring what I said and they say "who are u". What I get off of that is: "I don't know you, so I am going to completely ignore what you said and ask who are you, and then say you can't tell me what to do even though I didn't read what you said. So HA HA!"

it's a credibility thing rather than a literal question you should answer

Most of the time it doesn't seem like it. Seems more like Cuddles said, "I don't know who you are, so I'm going to ignore you're argument."

I normally see it as a "who are you to be saying x to me?" rather than a literal "who are you? I've never seen you before"
