The multi-tasking is a lot better on the playbook, I can confirm this because I have an iPod.
Takes about 3 seconds to switch apps with the playbook and about 20 with my iPod.

Takes about 3 seconds to switch on my ipad 2 so
Don't compare a tablet to an ipod...
