Author Topic: Mouse Steering features for Strafe Steering?  (Read 1817 times)

Hey, guys. I'm pretty sure you're all familiar with Strafe Steering in Blockland (Default vehicle controlling). But there's also mouse steering controls as well.
Mouse Steering controls allow for a much more precise control over vehicle, but the turning is dumbed down and it's pretty much impossible to make sharp turns.
So, can someone please make a clientside add-on that allows you to rotate your car via arrow keys?
GTA SA is a clear example of that: Hold UP arrow key to rotate your car down, down to rotate it up, left to roll it left, right to roll it right.
This would let players like me be able to rotate your car mid-air while still using WASD to control the car.

I'm pretty sure this is possible, seeing as mouse steering feature is there.

When turning off strafe steering, be sure to also turn off steering auto return.

You can rotate your car sideways when you're using mouse steering.
By using A and D.
You can also rotate your car forward and back, by using your mouse and moving it up or down.

You can actually turn just as sharply with mouse steering as you do with strafe steering.  If you're having trouble staying turned sharply long enough for it to count, you might want to consider disabling steering auto-return.

also if you have the turn left/right/up/down keys binded to the arrow keys and mouse steering enabled you can steer with the arrow keys

Okay, seriously? Everyone completely missed my point.
What I'm saying is, I want only pitch, yaw and roll rotation features added as arrow keys while keeping strafe steering. This means I want to be able to rotate the vehicle with arrow keys like in GTA SA.

I want to be able to control the vehicle with WASD and Arrow Keys like in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.
I don't want to use mouse to control my car for god's sake.

Hold UP arrow key to rotate your car down, down to rotate it up, left to roll it left, right to roll it right.
This would let players like me be able to rotate your car mid-air while still using WASD to control the car.

Sorry if I might sound like a jerk :/

The problem you have with mouse steering doesn't exist though.

And not only that, but this also isn't possible as a mod. The reason mouse steering is possible is because it's built into the engine.

Well then,  this gives mouse steering users a HUGE advantage over the old school strafe steering guys.
I don't want to use my mouse to control my vehicle, I like the old-school variant of using WASD keys to drive and Arrow Keys to rotate.

If it requires changing some engine code, this means I could try asking badspot about it. Seriously, since Speedkarting became a huge hit I can't help but notice how bouncy I am with strafe steering because I can't tilt my kart right.
And no, me switching to mouse steering is not a solution.
