decent processor, great gpu, decent amount of ram although if you install more later on you could get better performance, 500gb of storage and since i dont know your definition of decent storage this is a hit/miss.

...All except for the CPU. 1.9 GHz is pretty low for standard. If processing power really means anything to the OP, I'd suggest 2.2 GHz or more for gaming.

Sure, it's possible. But it's so difficult you may as well forget about it.
The only parts you can purchase for a laptop is a hard drive, CPU, and GPU. Those of which you can find on sites like Newegg that carry few of them. After that you need to find a case and monitor compatible with each other that supports a certain motherboard. It seems motherboards don't carry a design standard so almost all of them are unique with their own case. Usually you have to look for salvaged parts on eBay, which very rarely tell you the important details of the hardware.

In the end you have a laptop that has the specs similar of every laptop produced today.

actually, he ended up saving like $1000, since the only laptop he could find with similar specs was an alienware.

although he admitted the time he spent working on that laptop he could have spent working and he would've made much more
